‘Precious and beautiful’ woman, 34, is killed in a car crash as police charge man, 20, with death by dangerous driving and drink driving

A woman described as a ‘precious and beautiful lady’ was killed in a three-car collision in north Wales.
Nurse Rebecca Edwards, 34, died on the A499 near Pwllheli on Friday evening, North Wales Police said.
Osian Sion Hicks-Thomas, 20, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, drink driving, failing to stop and failing to report an accident, appeared at magistrates in Llandudno today.

Paying tribute, Ms Edward’s family said: ‘Rebecca was a happy, funny and bubbly 34-year-old who touched everyone she met with her loving caring nature.
‘She was a dedicated nurse at Ysbyty Gwynedd and had recently ventured into opening her own business.
‘She had an amazing future ahead of her before being stolen from us.
‘Rebecca would be described as a very special lady by all who knew her and will leave a great hole that can never be filled.
‘She was a daughter, granddaughter, sister, mother and friend who will be missed by everyone who knew her. Her partner, daughter, family and friends were the centre of her life.
‘She had an amazing future ahead of her before being stolen from us. Rebecca would be described as a very special lady by all who knew her and will leave a great hole that can never be filled.’
District judge Gwyn Jones at Llandudno court remanded Mr Hicks-Thomas, of Criccieth, Gwynedd, in custody until January 14 at Caernarfon Crown Court.
Defence solicitor Michael Strain made no application for bail.
Mr Strain read a statement in court on behalf of Hicks-Thomas in which the accused said : ‘I am starting today what will be a sentence lasting many years of imprisonment. That pales into insignificance when compared to the life-time of grief I have caused to the family of the deceased.
‘I know anything I say will sound superficial and self-serving but there is nothing I can do other than say I am deeply, deeply sorry for what I have done.’
Just before 7pm on December 21 North Wales Police were informed by the Welsh Ambulance Service of a collision on the A499 at Llanbedrog involving a blue Ford Focus, a black Volkswagen Golf and a Black Audi Q3.
