Pregnant Jill Duggar announces that she is expecting a third baby boy

It’s another baby boy for Jill Duggar, who announced on Wednesday that she and husband Derick Dillard are expecting a son.

The couple revealed that Jill, 30, is pregnant with baby number three last month, after previously sharing that she had suffered a miscarriage last fall.

Now the former reality TV couple have disclosed the baby’s sex, writing on their website that six-year-old Israel and four-year-old Samuel are getting a baby brother in July.

The couple shared several photos from a previous pregnancy shoot, which have been edited to turn a balloon blue and add the word ‘brother’ to a onesie held by Israel and Samuel.

‘We had originally planned on finding out our baby’s gender earlier, a couple weeks ago, but Covid hit our family and we had to delay the exciting revelation,’ they said.

‘However, this turned out to be a blessing in disguise because by the time we were able to reschedule, Israel was on spring break. This meant our whole family could be together for the appointment, as we all found out together that another little boy would be joining the Dillard tribe!

‘We decided to make a special day of it by starting off by eating breakfast together at a local restaurant called the Buttered Biscuit. Then we did a little shopping before heading to our appointment to learn the exciting news.

‘We are thankful to have a healthy baby boy due in July! Your continued prayers are much appreciated,’ they concluded.

Jill and Derick’s bout of COVID-19 appears to have been mild enough, and the couple told fans that they had both been vaccinated, though neither had received a booster shot.

Jill shared their diagnoses on March 10, posting a photo of their positive home tests.

In another shot, Jill and Derick grimaced at the camera, holding up tissues and tea.

‘Give me all the hot liquids and cough drops please!! Derick & I tested + for covid for the first time and it’s not fun!’ Jill wrote.

‘With a little help from family, we were still able to celebrate Derick’s birthday at home yesterday, even though it was different than we’d originally hoped.

‘Prayers appreciated for quick recoveries and for baby to stay healthy too!’ she added.

The Dillards’ initial pregnancy announcement came on February 27, when they admitted they had ‘been keeping a little secret.’

‘Ever since we were devastated last fall by the miscarriage of our sweet baby, River Bliss, we have prayed that, if it was God’s will, he would bless us with another baby,’ they wrote at the time.

‘We are excited to announce that God has answered our prayers and we are expecting our rainbow baby due July 2022!’

Jill’s July due date means she likely conceived in October — and likely learned she was pregnant right before her oldest brother Josh’s trial on child pornography charges, which began on November 30.

Derick had been present for every day of the trial, with Jill joining him for closing arguments.

The Dillards have been open about using non-hormonal birth control, though Jill's parents were outspoken against it and left family planning up to God

Their miscarriage happened not long before the trial, which was surely an emotional time for the family.

On October 11, they revealed that they had lost a much-wanted pregnancy on their website.

‘We recently found out that we were expecting our third baby. We were all thrilled!’ they wrote.

‘It was fun to see so much joy in the boys’ faces as we shared the news with them. They were full of questions and so excited as we talked about the pregnancy and how they would get to be involved along the way and after baby was born.

‘However, a few days later we started miscarrying,’ they went on. ‘Even though it was too early to tell the baby’s gender, we picked a name that we feel encompasses our baby’s significance and the life we will always remember: River Bliss Dillard.’

They continued: ‘Our baby doesn’t get to live here with us on earth, but is forever with the source of the river of life, in the presence of the Lord! And we chose Bliss for a middle name because our baby is living in perfect bliss with the Lord and was such a gift that brought immense joy and happiness to us even though only with us here on earth for a short time.’

The Dillards’ new baby will be born five years after their current youngest, Samuel — marking the youngest span between babies in the Duggar family to date.

Most of her siblings have followed in their parents’ footsteps, having lots of babies in quick succession.

Jim Bob and Michelle have been outspoke about leaving family planning ‘up to God,’ shunning birth control and, clearly, being frequently sexually active.

They had initially used hormonal birth control after welcoming their first child, Josh, and Michelle miscarried while taking it. They saw the miscarriage as a sign from God and gave up birth control thereafter.

Several of their children appear to have followed suit, with oldest son Josh, 33, already father to seven kids.

Jessa, 29, has four children, while Joseph and his wife Kendra, 23, are already parents to three children — and rumored to be expecting a fourth.

But Jill and Derick have been open about using birth control — though Jill has stressed they they don’t use any hormonal birth control because they falsely believe in can cause abortion.
