This year’s TV Choice Awards saw This Morning lose out on the Best Daytime prize for the first time in nine years, as it was awarded to ITV staple The Chase.

While Emmerdale was named Best Soap by viewers and readers yet again, there’s a first TV Choice Awards win for the show’s Mark Charnock, for his moving performance as stroke survivor Marlon Dingle.

Meanwhile, the storylines surrounding another troubled soap favourite – EastEnders’ Jean Slater – have led to Gillian Wright grabbing her first ever TV Choice gong for her portrayal of Stacey’s struggling mum, who first appeared in Walford 18 years ago.

For some, it is business as usual – with I’m A Celebrity… gaining yet another Best Reality Show award – its 17th – for the second series which swapped Australia’s bush for Wales’ Gwrych Castle.

TV Choice readers have taken After Life to their hearts with two previous wins, and this year its star and creator Ricky Gervais is rewarded with our Best Comedy Performance prize, for the bittersweet series’ third and final run.

Smash hit period romp Bridgerton follows its Best New Drama win with a first triumph as Best Drama Series.

And touching coming-of-age drama Heartstopper beats another Netflix hit, Squid Game, The Larkins and This Is Going To Hurt to be named Best New Drama, completing the Netflix hat trick.

Elsewhere, though Tess and Claudia can’t compete with Ant and Dec’s bulging trophy cabinet, British viewers still love seeing stars take on the challenge of the Cha and Charleston, as BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing is named the nation’s Best Talent Show.

Stacey and Kevin announced their pregnancy news in August, sharing a vintage snap as she cradled her new bump. She wrote at the time: ‘Gaaaaaaang… We are having a baby! So bloody delighted. Kev, you’re magic, I love youuuu.

‘(Was becoming impossible to hide and if one more person asks me if I’ve had my tits done in LA I’m gonna scream). Here goessssssss.’

Kevin also shared the same picture at the same time and sweetly wrote: ‘We’re having a baby! ❤️❤️❤️ And I think my girl @staceydooley looks beautiful pregnant.’

And explaining her excitement, Stacey appeared on The One Show just days later to gush over the good news.

‘I’m delighted, I can’t quite believe it,’ she excitedly told host Ronan Keating after he congratulated her.

Ronan said to the journalist: ‘We have to start by saying congratulations, big news today from yourself and Kevin.’

‘Thanks mate, I can’t quite believe it. I’m delighted actually, I feel really lucky. Because I’m 35 so you never take it for granted,’ explained Stacey.

Stacey and Kevin were crowned Strictly champions in 2018 after winning viewers’ hearts with their incredible partnership – turning things romantic after leaving the show.
