A pregnant woman in West Yorkshire says she was nearly sent into labour after a pigeon crashed into her window.

Laura Jane, from Leeds, heard a loud thud as the bird crashed into the glass and and left a body-shaped mark for proof.

Ms Jane said: ‘The bang was so loud I nearly went through the ceiling.

‘I was stood scraping the wallpaper from the wall between the windows so I saw the pigeon as it hit the window. I almost went into early labour with the shock.’

Ms Jane said the pigeon was knocked out from the collision and remained on the ground for quite a while before it set off.

She said: ‘I put my tools down and opened the window to see if it was still on the ground, which it was, so I took the tea towel from the kitchen and went straight down to see if it was ok.

‘It seemed knocked out so I was going to wrap it up and take it to the vets but as I put the towel over, it started to flap right in my face which caused me to scream like an idiot and run off.

‘The bird flew to the tree outside my window and seemed fine from there.’

With the pigeon fine, Laura returned to the room to see a surreal pigeon shaped mark on her window.

Pregnant Ms Jane said the thud from the pigeon-crash was so startling that it could have sent her into early labour

After returning to her decorating, Ms Jane was surprised to a see pigeon-shaped mark on her window – which has remained days later.

However, despite the rainy weather, the mark is still clearly visible several days later.

She added: ‘Once I’d caught my breath from running to check on the pigeon and the fact it was ok, it was pretty funny to see the mark.

‘I’ve not actually washed the window yet. I can’t believe it is still there. I thought the rain would have washed it away. I only left it because I wanted to show my dad.’
