Premier League’s top-earning footballers including Haaland and De Bruyne revealed by L’Equipe

Premier League’s top-earning footballers are revealed by L’Equipe, with Kevin De Bruyne officially top (although Erling Haaland is the real No 1)… and which bit-part Man United man makes the top five?

L’Equipe have revealed the top five earners in the Premier League, with Manchester City stars leading the way.

The real No 1, as reported by Sportsmail last October, is Erling Haaland, who takes home almost £900,000-a-week when bonuses are included.

Many of the bonus clauses in Haaland’s contract are as good as guaranteed, meaning he takes home more than anyone in the division.

L’Equipe say De Bruyne’s gross monthly salary is £1.7m-a-month (£425,000-a-week), and put Haaland below on £1.609m-a-month.

Level with the prolific City striker, who has bagged an astonishing 39 goals this season, is David de Gea of Man United with £402,250-a-week.

The French publication report him to be on exactly the same amount, although clearly Haaland is taking home far more when the bonuses are taken into account.

In fourth spot is Liverpool’s Mo Salah – who is the highest paid player for the Reds and is said to earn £1.495m-a-month (£373,750-a-week).

Even in a disappointing year for Jurgen Klopp’s side overall, the Egyptian is still producing the goods, scoring 20 times from the wing so far.

And there was a somewhat surprising entry at joint fourth in L’Equipe’s list. Jadon Sancho is said to be earning the same as Salah.

Haaland, De Bruyne, De Gea and Salah are all key men for their sides but Sancho has struggled so far at Manchester United.

He trained away from the group until January to get his physical and mental game up to scratch before being brought back into the fold by Erik ten Hag.

He has four goals and one assist in 14 Premier League games this season and one goal in eight in the Europa League.

His form recently does appear to be on the rise again, with Ten Hag offering praise after performances in the No 10 role.

But Sancho’s place in the team is far from guaranteed when everyone is fit, with Marcus Rashford and Antony usually favoured on the wings.

It remains to be seen whether the man they signed for £72m still has a long-term future at Old Trafford but the stability offered by the Dutchman’s reign could help him settle.

The Premier League leaders, Arsenal, have no representatives in the top five highest paid players but no doubt there will be clamour for improved contracts if Mikel Arteta’s side manage to get over the line.
