Premium Bonds saver scoops £100k prize with a £100 holding in February 2025

A Premium Bonds holder has scooped a £100,000 prize with a holding of just £100 in the February 2025 draw.

The winner is from Inner London and the bond was bought in April 2006.

There were 82 £100,000 prizes in the latest draw, and 40 of these six-figure sums were won with maximum holdings of £50,000.

One of the two £1million winners also held the maximum of £50,000. They are based in Kirklees, West Yorkshire and purchased the winning Bond in January 2009. They become the third jackpot winner from Kirklees.

Feeling lucky? February’s Premium Bond numbers are out – and one winner scooped £100k from a £100 holding

The other jackpot winner is from Sheffield. They hold £10,000 and bought their winning Bond in September 2022. They are the fourth NS&I-made millionaire from Sheffield.

There were more than 5.8million prizes awarded this month, paying out over £430million to Premium Bonds holders.

Premium Bonds can be bought with a minimum holding of £25 and prizes are tax-free.

Each £1 Bond is entered into the monthly draw, where prizes range from £25 to £1million. This month, there were 164 prizes of £50,000; 328 of £25,000; 820 of £10,000; 1,641 of £5,000 and 17,202 of £1,000.

Two sub-£1,000 holders won £50,000 prizes in the latest draw. A saver from Country Durham scooped the prize with a £500 holding, bought in November 2020.

And a winner from Devon also scooped £5,000 off £470, the winning bond having been bought in October 2010.

In this month’s draw, the Premium Bonds prize fund rate – which represents the average return a Premium Bonds saver would get in a year – was 4 per cent.

It was cut from 4.15 per cent in November. A month before that, NS&I cut the prize fund rate from 4.4 per cent to 4.15 per cent.

The two successive rate cuts mean the odds of winning a Premium Bonds prize are now 22,000 to one. In the November 2024 draw they stood at 21,000 to one.

Andrew Westhead, NS&I retail director, said: ‘The Sheffield win is exactly two years since the last jackpot win there in February 2023.

‘Yorkshire and the Humber [is] on a jackpot winning streak.’
