Primark pulls tea towels featuring the landmarks of London after shoppers point out that many are in the wrong place and one is called ‘Westminister’

  • Big Ben is south of the Thames and not connected to the Houses of Parliament
  • Westminster Abbey is also incorrectly located on the south bank 
  • The Gherkin and St Paul’s Cathedral crop up on the wrong side of Tower Bridge
  • Customers can return the tea towel and get a full refund

Primark has been forced to pull a London themed tea towel off its shelves after it had some of the city’s major landmarks located in the wrong places. 

The blunders included not having Big Ben connected to the Houses of Parliament and wrongly situated south of the River Thames.

There is also a spelling mistake with ‘Westminster’ spelled ‘Westminister, while an apostrophe is missing from St Paul’s.

Other geographical blunders include picturing The London Eye north of the river when it should be the south of it. 

While The Gherkin and St Paul’s Cathedral crop up on the wrong side of Tower Bridge. 

Vic Norman, who does historical walking tours in London, said: ‘It’s not only geographically challenged, the spelling and punctuation need a makeover.

The tea towels, which came in a multipack, were on sale for £2.50. Primark has now withdrawn them after the embarrassing mistakes were spotted. Customers can return the product and get their money back

A Primark spokesman said: ‘Where we identify a typing error on one of our products, we will remove the product concerned from sale as quickly as possible.

‘Customers who purchased the product can return it to one of our stores for a full refund and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.’
