Primary school in lockdown after a female parent stabbed a male teacher in Byron Bay

A female parent accused of stabbing a male teacher outside a primary school in Byron Bay has been arrested.  

Byron Bay Public School was placed in lockdown at 7.20am as police searched for the accused attacker on the first day back from holidays.

The woman allegedly used scissors to attack the teacher, according to the Sydney Morning Herald. 

The parent was arrested at the scene four hours later and is now being interviewed by police.

The teacher, described on social media by parents as a ‘most lovely’ man, was taken to hospital with cuts to his face and arm. 

‘Upon arrival police found a man suffering cuts to face and arm,’ a NSW police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.

‘The injuries were not life threatening. 

The lockdown was lifted after the woman was arrested just after 11am.

Parents took to social media to praise teachers for acting swiftly and ensuring all children were safe as the school went into lockdown.

‘The teachers did an amazing job ensuring all students at the school were in a safe area, with their parents close by, upon arrival to school,’ one woman wrote. 

‘The most lovely teacher. So undeserving of this. May his recovery and healing be swift,’ added another.

No charges have been laid against the female parent.
