Prince Charles was left red-faced and giggling after he had to wrestle a microphone from the jaws of This Morning dog Digby today.
The Prince of Wales, 69, and the Duchess of Cornwall, 70, found themselves in the midst of canine chaos at the show’s London ITV studios, as the royals helped presenters Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield celebrate the programme’s 30th year on air.
On a whistle-stop tour of the studios, Charles and Camilla, dressed in a stylish deep emerald skirt suit, also met the shining lights of ITV’s daytime schedule including Good Morning Britain’s Piers Morgan and Susannah Reid and This Morning’s Friday presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford.

Wearing a smart suit with matching tie and pocket square, the Prince appeared a little red in the face under the warm studio lights. Right: Charles and Digby’s handler discuss his assistant-dotg training programme with the Prince
However, it was arguably Digby the guide dog in training who raised the biggest smile from the Prince – after he refused to let go of the sound equipment he had clamped in his mouth.
The studio’s assistance dog in-training Digby and two other guide dogs, Clover and Luna, seemed determined to show Charles that you should never work with children or animals – especially when the television cameras are rolling.
The good-natured encounter saw the Prince laughing as he tried to retrieve the microphone and eventually he proved successful, even if he did look a little flustered afterwards.
Phil and Holly looked delighted to be hosting the VIPs, with a normally casual Philip donning a whistle and flute for the occasion

Highlights of the royals’ tour including their chat with Holly and Phil will air on the ITV daytime show tomorrow.
Elsewhere, there was even time for some nibbles as the show’s resident chefs Phil Vickery and Gino D’Acampo showed off their culinary skills, preparing mutton hot pot with honeyed parsnips for the royal pair.
The recipe’s honey even hailed from the show’s own honey farm, produced by bees housed on the roof of Studio 8.
