Prince Edward heads out on a hack at Windsor castle

While many of us headed back to work today it seems that the royal family are still in the Easter spirit.

Prince Edward was seen heading out on a hack with his daughter Lady Louise in the grounds of Windsor Castle on Tuesday.

The Queen’s youngest son accompanied his 14-year-old daughter, who is on her Easter holidays, for a trot around the grounds.

Edward, 54, is thought be visiting Windsor Castle with his wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex, 53, and his two children, Louise, and James, 10 over the festive break.

The family live just 11 miles down the road at the royal residence of Bagshot Park, near the village of Bagshot.

Louise proved herself to be the spitting image of her father as she headed out on one of her grandmother’s fell ponies this afternoon.

The father and daughter wrapped up in waxed jackets and both sported a pair of jodhpurs and a riding hat before heading out into the unseasonable weather.

Louise inherited a love of horses from her grandmother the Queen and was taught to ride at a young age.

More recently Lady Louise has taken up carriage-driving, a past-time beloved of her grandfather, Prince Philip, 96, who is credited with popularising the sport in Britain.

The family was spotted joining other royals at the Easter Sunday service at St George’s Chapel at the weekend.

The youngest member James, Viscount Severn, looked rather downcast and his mother Sophie was seen comforting her son.

However, he was soon in a brighter mood when he was seen driving around the private grounds of Windsor Castle on Easter Monday.

According to onlookers, young James was in good spirits today as he drove ‘reasonably fast’ while taking the 4×4 for a spin around the grounds.

The 10-year-old was sat on someones lap according to sources, but it is unclear who was accompanying him in the powerful vehicle

Also in attendance at Sunday’s church service was Princess Anne’s son Peter Phillips and his wife Autumn.

They made an appearance alongside Prince Andrew and his daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, who attended the service with fiancé Jack Brooksbank.
