Prince Harry gives details of steamy London reunion with Meghan Markle

Prince Harry has shared steamy details from the early days of his relationship with Meghan.

The Duke of Sussex, 38, who also opens up about losing his virginity in his memoir Spare, published today, recounts the very passionate way in which he and Meghan reunited in London after spending weeks apart in the summer of 2016.

The royal reveals he and Meghan spent the night at one of the Soho House branches on the day of the anniversary of Princess Diana’s death, and recalls waiting ‘breathlessly’ outside her room until she opened the door and ‘pulled me inside’.

Hinting the passionate clinch that followed their reunion, he wrote: ‘I want to say we hung a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door. But I don’t think there was time.’

Harry recounts how Meghan had instructed him to meet her at the Soho House where she was staying.

The couple were nearly two months into their relationship, having been on their romantic trip to Botswana.

They also just had spent several weeks apart because Harry had been on a long holiday with pals.

Harry recounts in Spare how Meghan flew to London to meet him on the day of the anniversary of the death of his late mother, Princess Diana.

He reveals in the book how she texted him that she had made it into the UK while he was laying flowers on his mother’s grave at Althorp with the Prince of Wales.

Harry drove back to London with William and met Meghan later that day.

He says in the book that she had told him to take a secret way to the hotel and a freight lift, where he met a friend of hers named Vanessa who led him to her hotel door.

Meghan soon opened the door, her arms reaching for Harry, he recalled.

‘She pulled me inside and thanked her friend in one fluid motion, then slammed the door quickly before anyone saw,’ he writes.

It is not known which Soho House location the Duke was referring to, but it may well be the same one where they had their first date.

The development also includes an extension into 5 Richmond Mews located to the rear of the main building.

Founded by Nick Jones, the entrepreneur husband of Desert Island Discs presenter Kirsty Young, Soho House has for two decades been held up as the epitome of louche British cool.

Revelations are pouring out of the Duke of Sussex’s explosive memoir and more is expected to come out, as the prince is set to appear on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert in the US tonight.

Prince Harry has also posed for this week’s edition of People Magazine in the US, with the interview released this afternoon.

Social media users remarked on how the magazine’s photo shoot appears to have brightened his blue eyes and thickened his hair.

One critic said pictures of Harry, which include him walking on a wooden terrace and leaning against some patio doors in an open blue shirt and dark jeans, looked like a ‘faux fashion photo shoot’.

Harry is also wearing a black leather cord necklace. Some claimed it is identical to the one he says was broken by his brother William in an alleged fight at Kensington Palace during a row over Meghan’s ‘difficult’ and ‘abrasive’ behaviour in 2019.

Harry’s appearance on the satirical The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was recorded in New York yesterday with the royal ushered in and out of the studio by armed bodyguards including a British former policeman carrying a Glock pistol carry case.

In his interview with People magazine, Harry justified his decision to share the fact that he killed 25 fighters as an Apache helicopter gunner, saying: ‘I know from my own healing journey that silence has been the least effective remedy. Expressing and detailing my experience is how I chose to deal with it, in the hopes it would help others.’

Former military commanders, pilots, aid workers and diplomats condemned the remarks, which they claimed handed the militants a propaganda victory. He also faced the ignominy of being branded a ‘big-mouth loser’ by the Taliban itself.

But Harry told People: ‘This is something each soldier has to confront, and in the nearly two decades of working alongside service personnel and veterans, I’ve listened to their stories and have shared mine.

‘In these conversations, we often talk about the parts of our service that haunt us — the lives lost, the lives taken. But also the parts of our service that heal us and the lives we’ve saved.’
