Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie announce their engagement news VERY differently

Princess Beatrice opts for less formal engagement announcement than her sister Eugenie – with playful photos, social media statements and no TV interview

  • Princess Beatrice, 31, is engaged to property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi
  • Photos taken by Princess Eugenie show them cuddling up in Windsor Great Park
  • Princess Eugenie and Jack Brookbank’s photos were taken in Buckingham Palace
  • They had an official photographer and opted for a more formal announcement

Princess Beatrice opted for a more low-key engagement announcement in comparison to her younger sister, Princess Eugenie.

The newly engaged royal, 31, and fiance property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 34, who will tie the knot in 2020, shared a series of down-to-earth photographs taken by sister Princess Eugenie in the grounds of Windsor Great Park.

In stark contrast, Princess Eugenie and husband Jack Brookbank’s official engagement pictures back in January 2018 were taken in the Picture Gallery at Buckingham Palace by Press Association photographer, Jonathan Brady.

She can be seen striking a more formal pose, wearing a dress by Erdem, shoes by Jimmy Choo and a ring containing a padparadscha sapphire surrounded by diamonds.

Meanwhile, Princess Beatrice’s fun-loving snaps, where she can be embracing her future husband, show her wearing a green floral £595 Zimmerman dress and showing off her 3.5 carat engagement ring by Shaun Leane, along with a Cartier love bracelet.

Further black and white pictures taken by photographer Misan Harriman at Royal Lodge, Windsor Great Park show the pair cosying up to each other and giggling, and pulling playful faces.

The Queen’s granddaughter and Edoardo released a statement regarding their 11-month whirlwind romance and said: ‘We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement.

‘We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to actually be married.

However, Princess Eugenie, who wed Jack at Windsor Castle on October 2018, spoke about their engagement to The One Show.

In Jack’s first ever TV interview, the happy couple – who got engaged during their holiday in Nicaragua – opened up about the ‘incredible moment’ while talking to presenter Matt Baker.

Princess Eugenie said: ‘The lake was so beautiful, it was a special light and I even said “this is an incredible moment’ and then he popped the question, which was really surprising even though we had been together seven years.’

‘It was the perfect moment because we knew it was going to end up this way.” She added “I was over the moon, crying.”‘

Her sparkler bears a striking similarity to the one Eugenie’s mother, Sarah Ferguson, was presented with by her ex-husband Prince Andrew, when they became engaged back in 1986 – although Fergie’s ring was set with a pink Burma ruby.

But Princess Eugenie’s modern ring features a more modest diamond accompanied by a pair of tapered baguettes – creating a trendy art deco look instead.

Princess Beatrice's sister Eugenie posted her congratulations on Instagram and shared a photograph taken by herself of the happy couple, adding: 'Beabea - wow! I'm so happy for you my dearest big sissy and dear Edo
