Princess Beatrice wears trainers to church on Christmas

In the past it has been her eye-catching headwear that made the headlines.

But yesterday Princess Beatrice found herself on the ‘how not to wear it’ list for a very different reason. The Queen’s granddaughter was seen in a pair of trainers as she walked to church for a private early morning service with the Queen.

Although the event, attended by Her Majesty as a private act of worship before the main service of the morning, is more relaxed, wearing sports shoes is definitely a no-no, Royal Family or not. The black skater-style shoes appeared to be the same ones she wore for a night out to the Soho House private members club with her sister Eugenie last Wednesday.

Beatrice, 29, found herself the butt of jokes when she wore a hat likened to a toilet seat to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding.

More appropriately dressed for church was Sophie Wessex in a Jane Taylor bespoke hat and 1950s-inspired dress coat by Erdem, costing around £2,630, while the Duchess of Cornwall chose a coat dress with military style detailing.
