Princess Margaret’s granddaughter makes her modelling debut on Tatler cover

She was a bridesmaid at William and Kate’s wedding and stood with the couple on the balcony at Buckingham Palace as they shared a kiss.

Now aged 20, Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones is in the limelight again on the cover of Tatler.

However, being in the public eye is an unusual state of affairs for the granddaughter of Princess Margaret.

For despite her background, she is now leading a quiet life in Paris, where she is able to bike around without being recognised.

Lady Margarita, who is 26th in line to the throne, shares a flat with friends in the French capital, where she moved in September to study jewellery and photography.

Her creative instincts are likely to have been nurtured by her amicably divorced parents the Earl of Snowdon – a carpenter and creator of luxury goods – and Serena, Countess of Snowdon, a keen amateur sculptor.

Her late grandfather was renowned portrait photographer Antony, Earl of Snowdon, who was married to Margaret from 1960 to 1978.

In its photoshoot to mark Lady Margarita’s 21st birthday in May, Tatler says she has her grandmother’s ‘inquisitive look’, adding: ‘The result: a proper English rose bombshell.’

Offsetting the statement sleeves, the couture gown is then ruched around Lady Margarita’s waist before then billowing out into a voluminous skirt.

The fashionista is pictured with her blonde hair pulled back, showing off her show-stopping peachy pink complexion and statement eyeliner.

To finish off her look, Lady Margarita rocked a dark smokey eye, hot pink lipstick and black nail polish.

During the shoot, the aristocrat was also styled in a 1960s-inspired black mini dress with a pleated skirt and chic featured hat.

Wearing her hair in lose waves, the blonde beauty exuded glamorous thanks to her purple chunky necklace and matching dangly earrings.

In another stunning image, Prince William and Prince Harry’s second cousin is all smiles as she poses in a structured white mini dress with a feathered skirt and fan.

Lady Margarita never actually met Margaret, as she was born three months after the late Queen’s sister died in February 2002.

She was pictured in 2017 exchanging warm words with the late Queen at a service of thanksgiving for her grandfather, Lord Snowdon.

The usually low-key 20-year-old has been in the spotlight a little more than usual in recent years, after attending Prince Philip’s memorial service and the funeral events for the Queen.

Her father David joined other senior members of the royal family to walk behind the Queens’s coffin.

Last November, she appeared to pay tribute to her late grandmother Princess Margaret when she wore a white fur coat to Tatler’s Little Black Book party in London.

Pictured arriving at cabaret and cocktail bar The Windmill, the student looked sensational in a silver sequin mini dress with a plunging scooped neckline.

Opting for a silver smokey-eyed look, Lady Margarita styled her blonde hair in loose waves and finished off her look with a pair of black heels and a coat reminiscent to one her late grandmother owned in the 1950s.

The bespoke Michael Kors creation seems to have been based on a piece of outwear a then-21-year-old Princess Margaret wore to the premiere of Captain Horatio Hornblower in 1951.

The glamorous film premiere took place on April 12, 1951 in Leicester Square – just a stone’s throw from where the Princess’ granddaughter partied the night away in Soho earlier this week.

Underneath her fur coat, the late Princess – who passed away from a stroke in 2002 – wore a V-neck, long-sleeved dress embellished with pink sequins.

Other Tatler cover stars have included Princess Charlene, who donned the front page in January 2022.
