Princess Mary, 49, shows off incredible beach body on family holiday in Skagen, Denmark

Denmark’s future king and queen on Thursday showcased their incredible beach bodies on a family day out at their favourite domestic holiday destination.

Princess Mary, 49, and Prince Frederik, 53, looked age-defying as they swam with their youngest children, 10-year-old twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, in the ocean at Skagen, a seaside town on the northerly tip of the country.

The Crown Princess, born Mary Donaldson in Hobart, Tasmania, was reminiscent of a Bond girl as she emerged from the water in a leopard print one-piece with a plunging neckline.

Her husband of 17 years, who will ascend to the throne following the death or abdication of his mother, Queen Margrethe, 81, looked similarly svelte as he walked topless along the sand with the family’s dog, Grace, in tow.

The royals have holidayed in Skagen throughout the pandemic, proving they’re just like the rest of us by posting cosy Instagram photos from their living room and shunning overseas travel in favour of family ‘staycations’ along Denmark’s coast.

After cooling off from the hot summer heat, Mary changed into activewear and ran along the sand, playing fetch with Grace as she went.

The mother-of-four was also seen strolling along the shore with her youngest daughter, Princess Josephine, and standing on the sand beside her son, Prince Vincent.

There was no sign of the couple’s eldest children, Prince Christian, 15, or Princess Isabella, 14, who could have remained at Fredensborg Palace where the family relocate for summer each year.

The relaxing trip comes weeks after Mary jetted to Paris, France, for a conference on gender equality.

Denmark’s queen-in-waiting oozed elegance in a black and white polka dot midi-dress as she posed for photos on the red carpet outside the event.

The Australian-born royal – who wore a protective face mask to comply with Covid guidelines – was a vision in the frock, which featured large gold buttons down the centre and across the waistline.

Despite much of her face being shielded with a mask, the Princess looked visibly youthful as she enhanced her features with just a touch of makeup.

Princess Mary is a long-time advocate for gender equality, once saying it is ‘the single most important thing we can strive for to improve our world.’

Between raising her children and appearing at diplomatic events, the Princess has worked tirelessly to prove her commitment to charity, becoming a patron of more than 25 international organisations.

Mary’s patronages include the World Health Organisation Regional Office for Europe and the United Nations Population Fund, where she supports their work to promote maternal health in more than 150 developing nations.

In 2007, she launched The Mary Foundation, a charity focused on stamping out domestic violence, bullying and loneliness.

Each year The Mary Foundation hands out 2,000 rucksacks for children in shelters with their mothers in Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Greenland.

In November 2014, the Tasmanian-born Princess accepted the prestigious Bambi Charity Award in Berlin, which honoured her work against domestic violence.

‘I accept this Bambi as a torch of hope for every girl who lives with violence or fear of violence,’ Princess Mary famously said in her acceptance speech.
