Known for her eye for style, Denmark’s future queen regularly mixes high fashion with budget-friendly pieces and champions locally made clothing whenever she can.

So keen is Mary’s eye for fashion that a public vote twice named her the World’s Most Stylish Royal, ahead of the Duchess of Cambridge, Queen Letizia of Spain and Queen Rania of Jordan.

The late Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld once described Mary and Kate Middleton as ‘royal sisters’ thanks to their strikingly similar appearance and comparable taste in clothes.

Denmark’s future queen has posed for Vogue Australia and German Vogue and is a patron of Global Fashion Agenda, which oversees the annual Copenhagen Fashion Summit.

The love story between Princess Mary and Prince Frederick has been well documented; the couple met in a Sydney bar and Mary, born in Tasmania, moved to the northern hemisphere to be with Frederik.

While Mary had a smile on her face during the outing, the Danish royal family has been strife with trouble in recent weeks.

Mary’s husband, Frederik spoke publicly for the first time since his mother, Queen Margrethe II, announced that she would be stripping the prince and princess titles from Prince Joachim’s four children.

Heir to the throne, Frederik, 54, has remained quiet since the announcement, until recently: ‘It is sad to see how affected he has been by the decision.’

Speaking to Danish publication B.T. the father-of-four, denied his brother’s claims that they’re not speaking and insisted that they have been in ‘constant’ communication.

Prince Joachim and Princess Marie have, on the other hand, previously claimed that they have not spoken to the Crown Prince or his wife Princess Mary during the crisis and that the relationship with them is ‘complicated.’
