‘When I ran out of food, it bit me by the hand and lifted me almost off my feet,’ he said.

‘It then dropped me on the ground and pounced,’ the son of film producer Marco Garibaldi added. ‘While it was pouncing on me, it literally got my whole head in its mouth and bit me.’

Because the camel was so heavy, he said the sanctuary workers were unable to free him from its grasp until he was fortunately saved by a dog.

‘The dog knew something was wrong and was freaking out and going at its face,’ he recalled. ‘That’s what got the camel off.’

Garcia said his mother – who was watching the attack happen – was ‘freaking out’.

‘She was traumatized,’ he said.

The sanctuary had called 911, but he said he opted to drive about an hour back to Los Angeles to go to the hospital there instead.

‘When we got to the emergency room, it was funny because everybody was sitting there with nothing too serious looking,’ he said. ‘Meanwhile I had blood all over me.’
