A probationary officer was fired earlier this month for shooting into a moving Jeep that started to flee a traffic stop in Texas.

Officer Lina Mino was fired from the Fort Worth Police Department on April 12, five days after the incident occurred.

Mino is seen in dashcam footage walking up to the Jeep after pulling the driver, a felon, over in in the 2800 block of Hale Avenue.

According to the Star Telegram, Mino asked the driver to exit the vehicle after learning that he was wanted on a drug warrant.

The passenger is seen getting out of the vehicle as Mino walks over to him. In that moment, the driver opens his door and runs from the officer.

Mino then runs after the driver as another police car pulls up near the passenger of the Jeep.

Neither the driver or passenger were injured in the incident.

Following the ordeal, Mino is heard telling another officer over the dash cam audio that she is ‘gonna get in f**king trouble’.

‘I don’t know why I shot,’ Mino is heard saying. ‘I’m pissed off because I don’t know why I shot, it was so stupid of me to f**king shoot.’

The incident occurred on April 7 and Chief Joel Fitzgerald fired Mino on April 12, one day before she would have completed her one-year probationary period and received Civil Service protection, including the right to appeal, according to the Telegram.

Mino was accused of violating the department’s use of force policy.

But the Fort Worth Police Officers Association has criticized the chief for firing Mino within days of the shooting.

The association’s president, Manny Ramirez, told the Telegram that the investigation rushed.

He said he believes that Mino’s remarks on the dash cam audio reveal that she knows and admits she made a mistake.

‘It doesn’t change the fact that we have accidental discharges every single month in this department and nobody gets terminated for it,’ Ramirez told the Telegram.

Ramirez said the association has filed a grievance on Mino’s behalf.

‘We’re asking for a complete and thorough investigation, not a rushed one,’ Ramirez said.
