Professional footballer ‘threatens to throw himself off a bridge in apparent suicide attempt,’ claim French reports, as police officers and psychologist from his club Nice try to talk him down

A player at French football club OGC Nice is threatening to throw himself off the Magnan Bridge ‘following a relationship break-up’, according to reports in France.

Firefighters, police officers and a psychologist dispatched by the Ligue 1 club are involved in trying to help the suicidal player, who hasn’t yet been named.

Nice-Matin reported the young player is suicidal following a break-up.

BFMTV said the footballer is stood on the 100 metre high Magnan viaduct, located on the A8 motorway to the north-west of the city of Nice.
