PSG ‘weigh-up summer move for Leeds keeper Illan Meslier’ as alternative to Hugo Lloris… with Mauricio Pochettino hoping to leverage relationship with mentor Marcelo Bielsa to secure new No 1
- Mauricio Pochettino wants PSG to sing a new keeper, with Hugo Lloris top target
- The Frenchman is out of contract in 2022 but Spurs will be reluctant to let him go
- Lloris’ countryman Illan Meslier is reportedly being considered as the alternative
- The 21-year-old keeper has been impressing in the Premier League for Leeds
Mauricio Pochettino is ready to utilise his contacts this summer with PSG reportedly mulling-over a move for Illan Meslier, who has impressed for Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds.
The Argentinian coach purportedly wants Hugo Lloris to replace Keylor Navas as the Parisian’s No 1 this summer, and despite his links to the club and friendship with the France skipper, will find it difficult to wrestle him away.
Meslier has enjoyed a strong debut season in the Premier League, keeping eight clean-sheets to break Joe Hart’s record (seven) for a keeper under 21 years old.

Stats like those have impressed PSG and, according to the National, Pochettino could utilise his relationship with Bielsa – who he describes as ‘like my father’ – to seal Meslier’s signature this summer.
It would complete an incredible rise for the talent, who only last season helped Leeds gain promotion from the Championship on loan from Lorient, before signing permanently this summer.
Next season, he could be lining up alongside Kylian Mbappe and Neymar for the French champions.

The 34-year-old looks set to be un-seated again, with PSG also linked to a move for struggling Manchester United keeper David De Gea.
