The Rightmove property listing describes the building, which is a modest 330 sq ft, as having: ‘Male and female facilities, each with store room.’

‘A fantastic opportunity to acquire these former public conveniences located in a great position just a few paces or so away from Newlyn’s picturesque working harbour where one can enjoy fantastic views over Newlyn and Mounts Bay.

The quaint building is also near the Red Lion Inn and Cliff Manor House, the former mansion of Newlyn’s wealthiest families made rich by from the fishing trade.

Katie Semmens, senior auction valuer, said: ‘We never get tired of saying this – there is no chain to worry about, particularly if you’re flush with cash.

‘We anticipate keen interest, especially as the property is just a few paces from Newlyn’s fishing harbour, where, weather permitting, there are great views over Newlyn and Mounts Bay.

The toilet is among 155 lots being sold by regional land and property auctioneers Clive Emson in Cornwall on September 13.

This comes after a 19th century toilet block nestled right on the edge of the River Ure in the Yorkshire Dales went for auction for the starting price of £8,000.

A former school shed also could be the world’s most expensive outhouse after going on the market for a staggering £1.195 million.

The simplistic one storey building seems an unlikely venue for a luxury home but the converted shed, which sits within the grounds of the City of London Academy, underwent a dramatic transformation.
