Pumpkin carvings are on display in Canada

Halloween is right around the corner, and one man couldn’t resist showing off some incredible pumpkin carvings — while passing off the jaw-dropping displays as part of his so-called neighbor’s front yard decorations.

Fantasy author Kevin Hearne took to Twitter earlier this month to show how is ‘neighbors’ have gone above and beyond this Halloween, creating everything from a fire-breathing dragon to an astronaut using just pumpkin carvings.

However, according to Time, the elaborate pumpkin displays are actually part of Ontario’s annual ‘Pumpkinferno,’ an outdoor exhibit featuring over 7,000 carved pumpkin designs in Upper Canada Village.

‘Neighbors are not playing when it comes to pumpkin carving. Yes those are pumpkins,’ Kevin tweeted while sharing a snapshot of an an intricately-designed dragon featuring horns, scales, and fire breathing from its mouth.

While sharing a close-up of the dragon, Kevin encouraged other Twitter users to appreciate the skill needed to create such an elaborate design out of pumpkins.

‘Look closer. All pumpkins,’ he wrote.

Another one of his photos sees a witch reading a book, and he joked: ‘I am not even gonna try to compete. Neighbors win the pumpkin carving.’

‘I mean dang,’ he tweeted when sharing a photo of a stunning Mexican Day of the Dead scene featuring a colorful skull and a woman wearing a flowy dress and a skeleton mask.

The final photo Kevin shared sees an astronaut seeming floating through space with stars cut out of individual hanging pumpkins.

‘Ground Control to Pumpkin Tom,’ he captioned the image.

Kevin, who is currently on a book tour promoting his new book, A Plague of Giants, later returned to Twitter to comment on the amount of likes and retweets his post received.

’10k retweets for a pic I took of pumpkins. Random House never told me pumpkin carving was the secret to social media,’ he wrote.

Plenty of people commented on the photos as well, including Todd French, who admitted: ‘All of these make me ashamed of my basic jagged tooth Charlie Brown-esque pumpkins.’

‘My gap-tooth-happy-face pumpkin saw this & immediately rolled itself into oncoming traffic,’ Liana LeFey joked.

John McCarty advised Keving to ‘carve a pumpkin pointing next door that says “ditto”!’

And the Twitter user ‘Ghostly Bree asked: ‘Where do you live, Kevin?! Do you live in a movie about Halloween?’

People have been actively sharing photos from Pumpkinferno’ as well, and some other standout images see a team of hockey players made out of pumpkins and famous paintings, including the Mona Lisa and American Gothic.
