Thousands flocked to the track on Wednesday as the Victorian city celebrated the region’s biggest race with a public holiday.
Gracing the fields in extravagant frocks and eccentric suits, punters used the day out as an excuse to parade a medley of bold fashion looks.
One woman was pictured wearing an outrageously enormous black fascinator, while another sported a similarly ostentatious blue one.
Yet another racegoer flaunted a peculiar leg tattoo which appeared to show a sloth perched in a teacup.
Others opted to rest on the lawn as the sun made one of it’s rare appearances, with the city 17C degrees on the chilly spring day.
Some groups stretched out on picnic blankets laid on the grass or brought along fold out chairs to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.
