Pupil, 16, ‘invented claims of sex in plane toilet with his physics teacher’

Teacher Eleanor Wilson, pictured outside court today, is accused of having sex with a pupil on a plane home from a school trip to Africa. She denies charges

A school pupil’s claims he had sex with his science teacher in an aeroplane toilet were dismissed as ‘fantasy’ today.

Ellie Wilson, 29, is on trial, accused of luring the boy – then aged 16 – into the plane’s cubicle and later telling him she was pregnant and would have an abortion.

The teenager claims she knelt in front of him to perform oral sex before they had full intercourse on the flight back from a school trip to Africa.

But the pupil was today accused of making up the encounter because he was ‘infatuated’ with the physics teacher.

Cross-examining him at Bristol Crown Court, defence barrister Anna Midgley said it was not physically possible to perform the alleged sex acts within the confines of the toilet.

She said: ‘She didn’t kiss you on the lips and you didn’t touch her breasts.

‘The hand down boxer shorts and full kissing on lips that you say happened outside the toilets did not happen.

‘You say she beckons you in [to the plane toilet] and she’s wearing walking boots. You suggested she took her trouser leg off her left leg leaving her boots on.

‘You said she was wearing boots and her leg was exposed from ankle to vagina. It wouldn’t be possible to take her trousers off.

‘You are standing between the toilet in front of you and the wall – you say your back was against the wall of the toilet. These toilets are not big enough for an adult to kneel in front of another.’

She added: ‘It’s just not true is it? You fantasised and boasted to your friends and that got out and rumours started. Your parents started questioning you as did the school. At that point you couldn’t say “None of this is true”.’

The boy, who was giving evidence from behind a screen, replied: ‘That is incorrect.’

Wilson, of Dursley, Gloucestershire, denies four charges of sexual activity with a child by a person in a position of trust between August and September 2015.

Opening the case at Bristol Crown Court yesterday, Virginia Cornwall, prosecuting, described Wilson as ‘a bright and capable’ teacher but a serial ‘risk-taker’.

A ‘bond’ developed between the boy and the then 26-year-old which led to an ‘erosion of boundaries’, Mrs Cornwall said.

The court heard that Wilson, then aged 26, gave the boy her mobile telephone number which he saved on his phone as ‘Smurfette’.

They began exchanging ‘intense’ text messages, which have since been deleted. A week after the trip, Wilson and the boy went to a Nando’s restaurant to reunite with other members of the Swaziland camping trip, where he bought her a bunch of flowers and chocolates.

Wilson gave him a lift home and he showed her to his bedroom, where it is claimed they kissed.

They also enjoyed day trips to Tintern Abbey in Monmouthshire and Ashton Court Estate in Bristol, where she confided in him over pub meals and cider about the difficulties she faced with her boyfriend.

There was more kissing and sexual contact on those occasions, the court heard.

Police, who recovered the note, did not find any conversations between the boy and Wilson on his phone, the court heard.

The boy told the jury he had deleted them. When asked why, he replied: ‘Because it was always a risky situation to keep such material on my telephone.’

The jury was told the boy had written down his feelings in a note on his mobile phone after he claims Wilson told him she was pregnant with his child and was having an abortion.

Ms Midgley said: ‘What you wrote about is what you wanted to happen.’

Ms Midgley suggested the boy found the defendant ‘attractive’ and he became ‘more attracted’ to her in the run-up to the trip.

The boy replied: ‘There was a bond that developed while we were on the trip.’

The trial continues.
