Putin’s goddaughter Ksenia Sobchak marries her Konstantin Bogomolov

A TV presenter often described as Russian president Vladimir Putin’s goddaughter has wed her TV producer fiance.

Ksenia Sobchak, 37, from Saint Petersburg, was pictured celebrating her nuptials to theatre director Konstantin Bogomolov, 44, in a ceremony which saw her wear three dresses.

The former reality show host, who is an anchor at an independent TV channel ‘Rain’, began her lavish day by signing the official documents at the Griboedovsky registry office, before exchanging vows at The Great ascension Church at Nikitsky gate in Moscow and finishing the day with an extravagant party at the ‘Museum of Moscow’.

Ksenia was reported to be Putin’s goddaughter after he attended her christening, but has been vocal in her opinions against the controversial leader, joining protests against him and even running for presidency against him in 2018. They have reportedly both since denied he is her official godparent.

Ksenia was previously married to actor Maksim Vitorgan, now 47, from 2013 to 2018, with whom she shares a son named Platon, born 18 November 2016.

On Friday 13 September Ksenia was pictured in a plunging, semi-sheer wedding dress featuring long puff sleeves as she signed the official documents in the Griboedovsky registry office in the Russian capital Moscow over the weekend.

Then the newlyweds then took a horse and carriage to the wedding, which took place at the spectacular Temple of the Great Ascension at Nikitsky Gate in Moscow.

Ksenia later took to Instagram to share snippets of her special day, praising everyone who helped the event run smoothly.

Meanwhile her husband Konstantin took to his own profile with a picture of the newlyweds, writing: ‘In this photo is the most important moment of that beautiful day.

‘I am grateful to everyone who understood and made our decision. I do not accept the thought that anything done on this important day was not done from the heart and not in the name of Life.

‘And I am infinitely proud of my amazing wife – beautiful, free, funny, witty, talented and sincere. I love you.’

Vladimir Putin attended Ksenia’s christening 37 years ago, sparking rumours he was her godfather.

The Russian president was particularly close to Ksenia’s late father Anatoly Sobchak, who was his law professor.

He reportedly went on to give the ex-KGB spy his first job in politics when he first became mayor of St Petersburg, before becoming president in 2012, and attended Anatoly’s funeral in 2000.

Meanwhile Ksenia has been publicly outspoken against her rumoured godfather’s political moves, joining anti-Putin rallies and even running against him in last year’s presidential election.

Despite their difference in opinions, Ksenia was said to have spoken to Vladimir before standing against him, in an election which saw her land fourth place.

Ksenia has posed for Playboy, Maxim and Tatler, when she was eight months pregnant.

In January she came under fire with her 6.6 milion followers after reportedly calling staff at the five star luxury Maldives she was staying at ‘black slaves’, in a now deleted Instagram video.
