Puttin’ on the glitz! Cate Blanchett dazzles in a retro ’80s style outfit at Paris Fashion Week

She is renowned for her striking sense of sartorial style, and Australian actor Cate Blanchett did not disappoint at Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday.

Cate, 49, donned an all-black ensemble that recalled ’80s glitz and glam for the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2019 showing at Paris Fashion Week.

The blonde A-lister wowed onlookers in her black Louis Vuitton dinner jacket with sparkly embellished detailing, including a hot-rod style fire motif on the chest and sleeves.

She wore the jacket with the cuffs rolled up to reveal the iconic Louis Vuitton monogram underneath, over a matching black shirt with similar patterned detailing on the collar and chest.

Cate teamed her rockabilly style jacket and shirt with form-fitting black trousers and black pumps.

The Ocean’s 8 actor accessorised her look with large, mismatched ear drop earrings, a glittery black medallion necklace and a black clutch bag.

The mum-of-four looked fresh faced as she arrived for the couture showing, choosing a light trace of eyeliner and cherry red lipstick for her makeup palette.

Cate was radiant as she waved to onlookers who had gathered outside the event, with her blonde shoulder-length hair out in loose waves.

The two-time Oscar winner shares four kids – Dashiell, 16, Roman, 14, Ignatius, 10, and Edith, four – with her theatre director husband Andrew Upton.

Despite her natural beauty and flair for fashion, Cate revealed that her children think she’s ‘really uncool and embarrassing’ during an appearance on the The Jonathan Ross back in September.

She said: ‘They do and they don’t [watch my films.] My son gave me some great career advice a few years ago. He said, “Mum, when are you going to make a blockbuster?”

‘I said, “I was in Lord of the Rings!” And he said, “Yeah for about 30 seconds.” So it didn’t really count. I had no brownie points with my children!’

Cate’s new movie, The House with A Clock In Its Walls, stars Cate as Florence Zimmerman, a witch who befriends her neighbour Jonathan (Jack Black), who is on a quest with an orphan named Lewis (Owen Vaccaro) to locate a clock with doomsday powers.

Cate recently told Who magazine said that she consulted her children because it is important to consider whether a film will reach its intended audience.

‘I seek their opinions all the time. Particularly with a film like [The House with a Clock in Its Walls], you want to know, “Is this something you want to go and see?”‘ she said.
