Qantas and Jetstar launch crazy ‘tourism recovery sale’ with 10,000 dirt cheap fares

Jetstar launches insane ‘tourism recovery sale’ with 10,000 dirt-cheap fares including Melbourne to Sydney for just $19 – but you’d better be quick

  • Jetstar is selling its fares from as little as $19 as part of a ‘tourism recovery sale’
  • The budget airline is offering 10,000 fares on 22 routes at the cut-price price
  • Cheap deals include the Melbourne to Sydney and Brisbane to Sydney routes
  • Sale will run from 9am on Friday until 11.59pm on June 22 unless already sold out

Jetstar is selling fares from as little as $19 as part of a ‘tourism recovery sale’ encouraging Australians to travel domestically during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Qantas’ budget arm is offering 10,000 fares on 22 routes at the cut-price rate between July and October, including on the Melbourne to Sydney and Brisbane to Sydney routes.

Tickets for a flight from Adelaide to Brisbane can also be had for $65, while Adelaide to the Gold Coast is available for $79.

Those looking to take advantage of the cheap fares will have to be quick once the sale opens at 9am on Friday as they will only be available until 11.59pm on June 22 unless already sold out.

Other $19 fares include Sydney to Ballina – the airport closest to the northern New South Wales tourist hotspot of Byron Bay – and Sydney to Cairns in far north Queensland.

Qantas meanwhile is giving its frequent flyers triple points on 92 of its domestic routes from June 27 until October 31.

The deals come as the federal government urged Australians to do their ‘patriotic duty’ and holiday in their home country – with the international border unlikely to re-open fully until next year.

Queensland announced last week it would open up to tourists on July 10 – while South Australia will remove its border restrictions on July 20.

Jetstar said it will be offering sale fares to and from Western Australia and Tasmania once state governments confirm when their borders will reopen.

‘There is huge pent up demand for air travel, with people wanting to get away after months of being stuck at home,’ Qantas CEO Alan Joyce said.

‘We’ve already seen our flights from Sydney to Cairns fill up on the days after the proposed Queensland border opening date of July 10.’
