Australian airline Qantas has just announced a clever way travellers can nab first class deals – but a keen eye is a must. 

The airline has registered itself as a host on the accommodation website Airbnb and has ‘disguised’ upgraded seats as $20 listings.

The clever idea, created by Qantas’ frequent flyer team, will run for the next two weeks, starting from today.

A great range of destinations has also been included for those looking for a stylish upgrade with the offer sending to travellers to London, Los Angeles or Hong Kong . 

If you’ve always fancied travelling first class, then you might want to spend a bit of time checking out Airbnb to see if you can uncover Qantas’ hidden listings (stock image)

Those hoping to land themselves a first-class or business seat should check out $20 listings on Airbnb as well as those that come with descriptions offering ‘unparalleled views of the clouds’.

‘Stylish, well-appointed one bedroom suite with unparalleled views of the clouds. Expansive, comfortable lounge, complete with sommelier and chef. Seamless check-in service,’ reads one ‘hidden’ Qantas listing.

Once a listing in uncovered these can be purchased using Qantas Airpoints. The seats are offered in pairs of two or four. 

So, for example, two first class seats from Melbourne to Los Angeles is available for 50,000 points. These seats are normally redeemed for 144,000 per seat.

Two business class seats from Sydney to London – if located as part of the deal – can be ‘purchased’ for 50,000 points.

Under normal circumstances, these seats would be redeemed for 128,000 each.

‘Our business and first class suites have all the hallmarks of a typical Airbnb house with comfortable beds, movies, quality cooked meals and experienced friendly hosts,’ said Qantas Loyalty CEO Olivia Wirth speaking to Escape.

‘We know our members love to redeem their points on travel, so we’re excited to be able to give them new ways to access these rewards.’

Qantas has partnered with Airbnb since 2016 and allows its frequent flyers to earn points on Airbnb bookings, as well as hosting.
