Qatar Airways has launched the first-ever double bed within business class.

The Qsuite allows passengers to recline two middle seats into a fully flat bed and features partition panels to create a private bedroom with two entertainment screens inside.

This new initiative marks a world-first for the industry and looks to set a precedent for rival carriers.

Qatar Airways has launched the feature on a daily Boeing 777 service from London Heathrow.

In addition, up to four passengers travelling together are also able to transform their seats to form a private area, so families, friends or colleagues can dine, socialise and work in a group.

The carrier’s senior vice president for Europe, Jonathan Harding, described the Qsuite cabins as a ‘first class product in business class’.

He told the Press Association: ‘It’s a revolutionary, brand new, game-changing product which we are going to roll out across our business class fleet, raising the business class experience to a new level.

‘We have the first double bed in the sky so people travelling together are able to avail themselves of that.

‘If you’re travelling by yourself you get privacy, particularly in one of our window seats, but our quads can be configured in a way that is very flexible and comfortable.’

Aviation analyst Alex Macheras said Qsuite is ‘the best business class in the skies today’ and praised its ‘very comfortable bed, beautiful on-board decor and furnishings’. He added: ‘I’d fly Qsuite over heaps of other first class products in the industry.’

Qsuite has been launched on flights from Heathrow and will be rolled out next to Paris and New York.
