She is known as one of Europe’s most stylish royals and Queen Letizia certainly lived up to the title as she stepped out on Monday.

The couple arrived at the Alcala de Henares University near the Spanish capital to attend the Miguel de Cervantes Literature Prize award ceremony.

Among a sea of charcoal and black suits Letizia, 45, shone in a fitted baby pink dress complete with a matching jacket with lace embellishment.

Always a stickler for detail the mother-of-two offset her outfit with a pair of nude court shoes and a complementing clutch bag.

The former-journalist has been favouring a straighter style when it comes to her hair and today saw a continuation of the trend with her brunette locks styled into a sleek straight finish.

Meanwhile King Felipe, 50, who will present the award, looked especially dapper in a coat and tails complete with a cream waistcoat as he arrived at the awards.

He could also be seen carrying a ceremonial cane, as is tradition with the annual prize-giving.

The couple joined Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and President of Madrid’s regional government Cristina Cifuentes for the event today.
