Queen Letizia of Spain cast an elegant but sombre figure during the tribute to the victims of the Coronavirus and health personnel in Madrid today.

The royal, 49, looked elegant in a knee length simple navy dress with a tan bag as she paid homage to the victims of Covid-19 and the health workers lost during the last two years.

She was accompanied by her husband, who donned a simple black suit. and navy tie.

Former broadcast journalist Letizia tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this month after showing mild symptoms of the virus.

Prior to testing positive for the virus, The Queen had had a busy few weeks, welcoming world leaders to Madrid for the NATO summit.

She also attended the presentation of the Princess of Girona Foundation Awards.

Queen Letizia escaped the virus back in February of this year when King Felipe tested positive.

The royal couple looked straight faced as they sat in the front row, as homage was paid to the thousands lost in the covid-19 pandemic

For today’s engagement, the royal opted for a co-ordinated look teaming her tan bag with brown suede heels, and accessorising with a pair of glistening blue earrings. 

She wore her brunetted locks in a straight but voluminous style, and kept her make-up classic with a smokey eye and nude lipstick.  

Earlier this week, she attended as conference in Madrid three days ago which was her first public appearance since recovering from coronavirus.

Today’s occasion was no doubt an emotional occasion for the Queen of Spain as she reflected on the impact of the pandemic on the country.  

Last year the Queen struggled to hold back tears as she joined her husband King Felipe VI at the same event to honour those lost to the virus.
