Queen Mathilde of Belgium wows in a bold two-piece as she visits the Port of Duqm in Oman

Queen Mathilde of Belgium looked showstopping as she stepped out alongside husband King Philippe for a visit to the Port of Duqm in Oman today. 

Mother-of-four Mathilde, 49, wowed in a matching blouse and trousers set by Belgian brand, Natan, featuring a burgundy and white pattern as she arrived at the Port of Duqm on the last day of their official visit to the Sultanate of Oman and United Arab Emirates. 

The monarch perfectly complemented her outfit with a matching face mask, finishing off the ensemble with silver accessories and burgundy heels. 

Meanwhile, King Philippe looked similarly suave in a navy pinstripe suit with a paisley tie as they joined officials today for the opening of Duqm sea port.

Queen Mathilde smiled to the cameras as she enjoyed a a traditional Omani Lunch at Rock Garden

Mathilde wore large pearl earrings to accompany her outfit, and wore her hair back in a low chignon to complete the classy look.

She carried a deep red suede clutch under one arm that tied the outfit together and carried some thick black rimmed sunglasses to protect her from the sun. 

King Philippe appeared to match his wife’s ensemble as his mustard and purple tie complemented a similar pattern in Mathilde’s outfit. 

During their visit, the royal couple chatted with locals perused regional souvenirs in a colourful tent located in the Garden of Rocks.

While at the local shop, Queen Mathilde tried on a headdress and was shown how to tie it by some local women.

The couple arrived at Muscat International Airport on Wednesday afternoon to a warm welcome from Oman’s Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, Sayyid Theyazin Haitham Al Said. 

Their official two-day visit to the Sultanate of Oman and United Arab Emirates has been arranged to review fields and aspects of common interest for the countries involved.

It read: ‘The visit comes within the framework of the good relations binding the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Belgium and stemming from the keenness of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and King Philippe Leopold Louis Marie of the Belgians in promoting the bilateral relations towards wider horizons in various spheres. 

The Diwan of Royal Court is an Omani Government political and administrative link between the Sultanate of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, the monarch and head of state, and the central government.

Queen Mathilde and King Philippe also attended a welcome by Sultan Oman Haitham bin Tarik at the Al Alam Palace yesterday, where the King received the title of Oman civil order of the first class. 

This title is awarded to Kings, heads of State, crown princes and heads of government whose countries have distinguished relations with the Sultanate of Oman.

The Belgian royals are also expected to attend the official opening of Port of Duqm and visit the Hyport site, a major green hydrogen production facility in the town of Duqm, 337 miles from the capital of Oman, Muscat. 

It is a joint venture project between Oman and Belgium and is still in the earlier stages of engineering works.

After their trip to Oman, the couple are expected to visit the United Arab Emirates.   

They will then visit Dubai’s Expo 2020 for Belgian Day on 5 February.

The Belgian royal office said of the visit: ‘The Belgian pavilion is one of the main attractions of the expo.

‘It is an example of inclusive, sustainable and circular architecture, including 2,500 local plants that store CO2 and lower indoor temperature.’

They will be accompanied by Sophie Wilmès, Minister of Economy and Employment, Pierre-Yves Dermagne, Minister of Economy and Employment, and Tinne Van der Straeten, Minister of Energy.
