Queen Maxima of the Netherlands arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday night for a three-day visit as a UN representative for inclusive finance.

The royal, 48, donned the stylish matching tweed jacket and skirt ensemble for the occasion – and complimented the outfit with a pair of beige shoes.

The former financier appeared to be in high spirits as she met and shook hands with Pakistan’s President Arif Alvi at the Presidential Palace in Islamabad.

While later she gave a speech and handed out awards as she appeared at the Pakistan Innovative Finance Forum.

She was greeted on Monday by senior officials from the foreign ministry and representatives of Dutch Embassy at the Nur Khan air base outside the capital, Islamabad.

Yesterday she met President Arif Alvi and looked deep in conversation with him. While she was also said to have met Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The Dutch royal is promoting a new initiative by Pakistan´s central bank called the Micro Payment Gateway. 

Pakistan’s Foreign Office described it as ‘aiming at reducing the costs of small payments and boosting digital transactions to benefit people and promote financial inclusion.’

In 2009 Queen Maxima was appointed the Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA). 

In this capacity, she advises the Secretary-General, and works worldwide to make financial services accessible to all, including low-income groups and the SME sector.

 The Dutch royal was last seen in Amsterdam – cutting a stylish figure as she arrived at the opening of the NEMO science museum.

An international financier by training, Máxima was born in Argentina and married into the Dutch royal family in 2002, three years after meeting her husband-to-be in Seville, Spain.

The King and Queen are parents to three daughters; Catharina-Amalia, 14, Alexia, 12, and Ariane, 10.
