Queen Maxima of the Netherlands puts on a colourful display in India

Queen Maxima of the Netherlands put on a colourful display as she arrived at Cochin International Airport on the fourth day of her five-day state visit to India.

The stylish royal, 48, who was accompanied by her husband King Willem-Alexander, 52, opted for a long-sleeved brown and orange-striped dress featuring tie detail which cinched her in at the waist. 

She completed her outfit with a pair of tan suede skyscraper heels, and could be seen carrying a pair of gloves to match – before interacting with several Kathakali dancers.

The mother-of-three daughters – Catharina-Amalia, 14, Alexia, 12, and Ariane, 10 – accessorised with a statement over-sized orange hat, dangling earrings and a pair of trendy sunglasses.

The royal was welcomed by Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari in Mumbai, who handed her with a beautiful bouquet of yellow flowers.

Queen Maxima is accompanying her husband King Willem-Alexander on his first state visit to India following his ascension to the throne in 2013.

Yesterday, Maxima was positively glowing when she visited a small textile factory helping people out of poverty.

She appeared to be in her element as she met with women working at the operation run by the Dutch organisation Tiny Miracles in Gol Maidan, Mumbai.

Maxima displayed her ethereal beauty in a flowing blue dress featuring ruffled detailing on the hem as she made her way through the inner-city streets.

The monarch teamed her garment, which featured a cut-out below the neckline, with a stylish blue headpiece that was decorated with delicate feathers.

Later, along with her husband, she visited the memorial build in memory of the victims of the Mumbai terror attacks, at The Taj Mahal Palace & Tower Hotel in Mumbai.

The royal couple’s visit to Mumbai came a day after they attended the India-Netherlands Technology Summit at the JW Marriott Hotel in New Delhi for the 25th edition of the high-profile event.

Maxima appeared to be delighted after being gifted a beautiful bouquet of yellow flowers by Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari 

Following their attendance at the business event, the couple also visited the sandstone and marble mausoleum of Safjar Jang who was the ruler of the Indian state of Oudh.

On their first official day in India, the queen and her husband, who landed in India on Sunday evening, joined prime minister Narendra Modi to visit the open-air memorial of the Indian civil rights leader Mahatma Gandhi in Raj Ghat.

They were were treated to a lavish state banquet at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Palace in the Indian capital.

The royal visit will also see the couple visit the ‘Indo-Dutch interactions in the time of Rembrandt’ exhibition at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Museum in Mumbai.
