A furious farmer has slammed the supermarkets for not doing enough as both Coles and Woolworths announce a milk levy to help drought-hit workers.
Joe Bradley, a Queensland dairy farmer, said the 10 cent milk levy was just a small step to helping farmers affected by the drought.
‘I give credit to Woolies because someone has finally put their hand up and said we’re going to help someway – it’s a start, it’s not enough,’ Mr Bradley said after Woolworths announced a 10 cent increase on one brand of its milk.

A Coles spokesman told Daily Mail Australia it has added a 10 cent a litre levy as they increased the price of their 3L Own Brand Milk to help support the farmers.
‘Coles and our customers have already committed almost $12 million to drought relief, including $5 million from the Coles Nurture Fund to assist drought affected farmers,’ the spokesperson said.
‘To further support Australian farmers Coles will, from today until the end of the year, increase the price of our 3L Own Brand milk from $3.00 to $3.30.
‘100 per cent of this increase will be donated to farmers affected by drought.
‘All we can do is ask the public to boycott Coles until they come on board,’ Mr Bradley said (stock image)
‘Coles has always supported our Aussie farmers. We have an Australia First Sourcing Policy and all of our fresh milk is 100% Australian.
‘Coles for a number of years has sold a range of milk brands with a percentage of sales going to support dairy farmers in Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.’
Before the announcement, Mr Bradley asked Australians to boycott Coles for failing to help farmers.
‘Congratulations Woolies but shame on Coles – I’ve asked them to come talk to me and talk to farmers, they haven’t,’ he said.
