A young girl has been mauled by a neighbour’s dog which bit almost half her lip off and has been left with lasting pain.

Zoe Nolan, five, was playing with a group of neighbourhood children in the house next door to her own in Nambour, Queensland, when a dog that had only been there for three weeks attacked her.

‘I went outside and just saw blood all over my child and her screaming,’ Zoe’s mother Tegan Bonner told the Sunshine Coast Daily.

Zoe was rushed to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in an ambulance before she was later transferred to have facial plastic surgery.

While her mother thought the plastic surgery would be an instant success, the vicious ambush has left little Zoe with pain every time she smiles.

‘I hope that she’s able to smile with that bright smile that she usually has,’ Miss Bonner said.

The dog in question, which is believed to be a dalmatian and labrador crossbreed, was a give-away prize the next door neighbour had won on Facebook.

The pup had to be euthanised after the attack – particularly when the owner’s mentioned that it had been given up previously for chasing horses and livestock.

According to Miss Bonner, her once bubbly and extroverted daughter is now terrified of all dogs – even if they’re on a leash – and cries each time she sees one.

‘I felt bad [for the dog] in a sense but in the same sense that dog had just caused my daughter a lot of harm,’ she reasoned.
