Queensland woman loses 50kgs without a diet

Tipping the scales at 120kgs and struggling to fit into a size 22, Queensland woman Chenai Boucher was afraid to even step outside.

But after losing some weight ahead of her 18th birthday, the now 20-year-old gained an insatiable taste for fitness that has led her to a whopping 50kg weight-loss.

Speaking to FEMAIL, Ms Boucher said she found it impossible to both exercise and diet, so she just focused on the former after becoming fed up with her weight.

‘I didn’t want to be seen by people or go out of the house. I just wanted to stay in my bubble,’ Ms Boucher said.

‘I definitely had depression and anxiety from the thought of going outside because I was ashamed of who I was – it was hard to get out of the slump.’

The personal trainer began walking her dog regularly in the afternoons, leading to a rapid 10kg weight-loss in the three weeks before her 18th birthday.

She said the initial weight-loss changed her attitude towards fitness and encouraged her to join a gym.

Over the next year, Ms Boucher lost a further 25kgs by performing strength sport powerlifting almost every day with a gym buddy.

But she said she began to ‘plateau’ at about the 90kg mark, which led to her taking up CrossFit under the guidance of a coach.

Ms Boucher performed the high-intensity fitness program a whopping 11 times a week – five times of which were with her coach.

‘I went pretty hard. It becomes a lifestyle – it’s part of me. Now I feel sick if I don’t train,’ she said.

Now a trim 70kgs, Ms Boucher said no food groups are off the table, although she follows a policy of only eating ‘natural foods’ that don’t come from a packet.

She now has aspirations of completing her Bachelor of Business degree and starting her own fitness empire – consisting of an activewear line and fitness seminars.

‘I want to impact a lot of lives … I hope to influence women through the education of fitness, well-being and food.

‘My goal is to also create a clothing line for sizes 6-28 for people who want to start losing weight.’
