A vegetarian food company has been accused of conning its customers by claiming to sell a ‘dozen sausage rolls’ by telling customers they have to chop the product into quarters themselves.

Quorn, who are owned by a multi-national company based in the Phillipines has been criticised over the way it labels its products.

Now the company has promised the labels will be ‘re-worded’ in the New Year.

The firm was forced to react after being accused of misleading people into thinking the packs contain a dozen sausage rolls when in fact that only works if you slice them into fours.

Dan Douglas tweeted a picture of the product, including the tiny label, commenting ‘have u ever seen anything so brazen’.

He added jokily ‘Hey here’s a 6-pack of fun-size Mars Bars…hands u a single regular Mars Bar.’

It’s been retweeted more than 24,000 times and has almost 52,000 likes so far.

Some responses were hilarious…one person replied ‘Bet it could be a 24 pack if you actually put effort into this.’

Rob King said ‘That works the other way though. How many sausage rolls did you eat? Just the one.’

Sam Dolan tweeted ‘Happy Christmas Dad, I got you a six-pack! But son, there’s only one can? Use the breadknife…’

KevBLloyd said ‘By this logic you can neck a bottle of wine in one go and it only counts as a glass I think.’

A Quorn spokesman said ‘Having seen the comments from consumers over the weekend, we agree that the product descriptor has the potential to cause confusion.

‘We therefore plan to change the descriptor when we next print the packaging in the New Year.’
