It’s not your usual cat and dog fight, but two pets have been banned from running in a calendar competition.

The Royal Automobile Club of Queensland (RACQ) competition had 6000 adorable pets in line for various prizes worth more $15000.

Miss Coconut, a two-year-old Bengal cat, racked up almost 30,000 votes in the preliminary round, while competitors were left trailing with thousands less.

The owner of Biggie the bulldog, Bianca Muddle, suspected there was some cheating going on following the influx of votes that Bengal received.

However, despite raising her concerns, RACQ decided to hide the tally in the final days of the competition.

An audit then found most of votes for Miss Coconut and Biggie disqualified were generated by bots, which led to their disqualification, Nine News reported.

Ms Muddle said she had nothing to do with the rigged votes and wanted to see proof.

‘I would like to see proof of where ineligible votes came from,’ she said.

The winner of the competition was announced on Wednesday and $5000 (pictured other furry contestants)

The winner of the competition was announced on Wednesday and $5000 was awarded to Bailey the Groodle.

He won after receiving the highest number of votes for a video entry from his owner Amy Burford of his hilarious attempts at catching toys unsuccessfully.

RACQ spokesperson Kirsty Clinton said Bailey was a very deserving winner, but it was bittersweet because Amy had recently announced she was now mourning the 10-year-old’s passing.

‘Bailey’s a beautiful dog and was a hit with our judges when we were deciding on the 12 finalists. We’re proud to have him represent us on the front cover of our calendar which will be available in stores later this year to raise money for the Animal Welfare League of Queensland (AWLQ),’ Ms Clinton said in a statement.

‘We were, however, very sad to hear that the gorgeous Bailey passed away over the weekend. We send our thoughts to Amy, his owner, and hope this win will be a nice way for her to celebrate and remember him.’
