Sterling flew home on Sunday night to attend to a break-in at his house in Surrey. He was forced to miss the 3-0 win over Senegal because of the incident.

The forward was said to be ‘shaken’ by the robbery and decided to return home to comfort his worried family.

But there is hope Sterling returns to Qatar in hope of playing a part in England’s do-or-die clash against the reigning world champions.
