Dangerous tattooed rapist, 39, escapes open prison as police warn public not to approach him

- He is the second person in two weeks to have absconded from the open prison
A violent rapist is on the run after he absconded from an open prison this week.
Stephen Tierney, 39, was serving a sentence for rape when he disappeared from North Sea Camp prison near Boston, Lincolnshire on Wednesday.
Police are urging the public not to approach him if he is spotted, but instead ring 999 immediately.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police said: ‘We are urgently seeking to locate 39-year-old Stephen Tierney who absconded from North Sea Camp on Wednesday.
‘Tierney is around 5’7, small build, brown / ginger hair, with a tattoo saying “wrist” on his right arm.
‘He was last seen in Boston Market Place yesterday. He may have used public transport to travel to Lincoln. Tierney has connections to Northamptonshire and London.
‘Tierney has been assessed as posing a medium risk of violence towards the public who are advised not to approach him.
‘He is serving a sentence for a previous rape offence. Any sightings or information please contact 101 quoting incident number 316 of 3 July. If an emergency, call 999.’

No further details have been released about Tierney’s offence.
North Sea Camp is a male, category D prison which hold around 420 inmates at a time.
Just last week, another inmate, Brian McBride, also absconded from the jail.
