Marcus Rashford and Alexis Sanchez trained with Manchester United on Tuesday morning ahead of the Champions League quarter-final clash with Barcelona.

However, Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera, Eric Bailly and Antonio Valencia were all absent as United prepared for Wednesday’s first leg at Old Trafford

Sanchez has been out of action for more than a month after suffering a knee injury in the win over Southampton on March 2.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping that Rashford is passed fit so he can lead the line against the Spaniards, although Sanchez is only likely to be a substitute if available.

The absence of both Matic and Herrera will be a concern with Fred and Scott McTominay set to come into contention if United’s two first-choice midfielders are ruled out.

Solskjaer and his squad rocked up early to training on Tuesday to maximise preparations ahead of the mouth-watering clash.

Since taking over on a full-time basis, the Norwegian has managed to overcome Watford but recently fell to defeat against Wolves in the Premier League, putting United’s top four-hopes in danger.

The 46-year-old will be desperate to bounce back under the lights against Lionel Messi and Co as it gives United another avenue of qualifying for next season’s competition.

Solskjaer took a trip to Spain over the weekend to watch Ernesto Valverde’s side beat Atletico Madrid 2-0 on Saturday.
