Real Madrid ‘move ahead of Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign Paul Pogba for FREE’

Real Madrid ‘move ahead of Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign Paul Pogba for FREE next summer’ as the Spanish giants also look to snap up Kylian Mbappe for nothing

  • Paul Pogba has produced five assists in three Premier League games this season
  • His agent Mino Raiola has previously said that his client wants to leave
  • Manchester United still believe the 28-year-old wants to remain at the club
  • They would be willing to sell in January though if contract talks don’t progress
  • Real Madrid would then have a decision to make about whether to act or wait

Real Madrid are reportedly in pole position to snap up Paul Pogba for free next summer.

The Manchester United midfielder has been on fire at the start of the season, with five assists in the team’s opening three Premier League games meaning they currently sit third in the table with seven points from a possible nine.

However, Pogba’s outspoken agent Mino Raiola has previously said that the Frenchman wants to leave Old Trafford.

His contract is up in 2022 and Los Blancos are now ahead of Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus in the fight for the 28-year-old’s signature, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Zinedine Zidane was a long-time admirer of Pogba and after returning to the Spanish giants in 2019, he enquired about the midfielder’s services in every transfer window for two years before his departure in May, with United holding onto one of their most highly prized assets by slapping a price tag on him of €180million (103m).

Manchester United believe Pogba wants to stay despite rumours to the contrary that his dream is to move to Madrid, although, according to ESPN’s Julien Laurens, United would like to sell him in January in order to prevent them losing someone who cost a then-world-record fee of £89m in 2016 when the Red Devils bought him from Juve.

If United do decide to sell in the winter window, Real will be left with a decision to make as they look to close in on the signing of Kylian Mbappe.

Real, now coached by former Chelsea and Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti, are also expected to sign Mbappe for nothing next summer after seeing two bids for the 22-year-old, the latter of which was €180m (£154m), rejected by Paris Saint-Germain last month.

The relationship between Raiola and Florentino Perez has been fraught, with the Real president often releasing statements to deny links with players represented by the Dutch-Italian wheeler dealer.

However, the tension between the two men seems to have thawed, with Real keen to sign arguably Raiola’s most expensive client, Erling Haaland.
