Real Madrid ‘plot deals for Kylian Mbappe AND Erling Haaland next summer’

Real Madrid are ‘plotting deals for Kylian Mbappe AND Erling Haaland next summer’ as Florentino Perez targets two Galactico strikers for 2022 – and LaLiga giants ‘are also exploring deal’ for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba

  • Real Madrid’s attempts to sign Kylian Mbappe this summer proved unsuccessful
  • The striker is out of contract next summer and Real Madrid want him on a free
  • Along with picking up Mbappe, Real reportedly want Erling Haaland as well
  • The Borussia Dortmund striker is said to have a £64m release clause next year
  • Signing both in one summer would mark two statement deals for Real Madrid

Real Madrid are reportedly ready to make two huge statements in next summer’s transfer window by moving for both Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.

Mbappe, 22, and Haaland, 21, are seen as two of the best young players in the world and both hold a market value north of £150million.

But with Mbappe’s contract expiring at Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season and next summer seeing a release clause of around £64m become active in Haaland’s Borussia Dortmund contract, Spanish outlet Marca report that Real president Florentino Perez is targeting signing them both.

While there did not appear to be a concerted push this summer for Haaland, Real put a huge offer on the table for PSG to get Mbappe in.

The LaLiga giants made multiple moves for Mbappe, first tabling an initial £137m offer, which was swiftly rejected.

Real Madrid then upped their bid to £145m plus £9m in add ons – but this was also turned down by the Parisians.

Marca detail that there is a growing belief inside Real Madrid that a deal for Mbappe can be announced with a pre-contract agreement, something the French striker can sign with clubs outside of France as early as January 1, 2022.

Mbappe and Haaland are widely viewed as strong candidates to be the shining lights in the sport when Cristiano Ronaldo, now back at Manchester United, and Lionel Messi, now of PSG, step away.

Pairing Mbappe with Haaland at Real Madrid would represent two incredible pieces of business from the ever ambitious president Perez.

With growing confidence around Mbappe, attention is likely to turn to ensuring they are front of the queue for Haaland with Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea among other suitors.

Marca‘s report details that Real Madrid’s communication with Haaland ‘so far has been positive’ and the player is ‘excited’ at the idea of playing at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid are also said to believe that their positive relationship with Dortmund, established over recent years, strengthens their bid to entice Haaland to Spain.

The Norwegian striker, who is managed by Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola, sees a release clause in the region of €75m (£64m) become active in his contract at the end of the 2021-22 season.

Haaland has been a revelation in Germany having bagged an impressive 63 goals in 64 appearances. He has also provided 18 assists and won the German Cup last season.

Real Madrid had a quiet summer with their major move a deal to bring 18-year-old Eduardo Camavinga in from Rennes.

Boss Carlo Ancelotti wants to overhaul his midfield options as he looks to wrestle back the LaLiga title from city rivals Atletico Madrid, who have improved their side this summer with the return of Antoine Griezmann from cash-strapped Barcelona.

As well as Camavinga, reports in Spain detail that there is interest from Real Madrid in Manchester United’s Paul Pogba.

Perez is also said to be 'exploring' the possibility of signing Paul Pogba on a free transfer

Perez is also said to be ‘exploring’ the possibility of signing Paul Pogba on a free transfer

Pogba, like Mbappe at PSG, sees his £290,000 a week contract expire next June, and he has previously intimated a desire to one day play for Real Madrid.

Perez is reportedly ‘exploring the prospect’ of getting Pogba on a free in a return to a huge summer of Galactico signings.

United are desperate to keep Pogba and United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed last month that talks are continuing with Pogba’s camp to persuade the Frenchman to sign a new contract.

The key for Real Madrid is that both Haaland and Pogba are represented by the same agent in Mino Raiola.
