Rebekah Vardy is slammed by Iain Lee for denying she bullied him on I’m A Celebrity

Iain Lee has slammed Rebekah Vardy for denying she bullied him when they appeared on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! together in 2017.

The broadcaster took to Twitter to insist the WAG made his time on the show ‘miserable’ after she insisted in an interview on Wednesday she has ‘nothing bad to say about him.’

Rebekah, who was interviewed after losing her high profile Wagatha Christie libel trial against Coleen Rooney, was accused of bullying Iain and targeting him as part of a gang with several other celebrities on the show.

Iain re-posted an excerpt from Rebekah’s interview with The Sun, which included a segment when she answered true or false to various claims made about her.

Asked whether she was a bully after Iain claimed she was, the wife of footballer Jamie Vardy responded: ‘Edited TV looks a certain way. I don’t have anything bad to say about him.’

Sharing a screengrab of the quote, Iain tweeted: ‘So @RebekahVardy claiming she didn’t bully me because ‘edited TV looks a certain way.

‘They can only edit what you do and say. You don’t get to say if I was bullied. You made my time in the jungle miserable. Don’t start using me as part of your rehabilitation. The bully doesn’t get to say whether it was bullying or not.’

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Rebekah Vardy for comment.

Rebekah spoke about losing her libel case to Coleen in an extraordinary interview broadcast on TalkTV after being accused of leaking stories about her to the press.

She said that she withdrew from the public gaze due to the stress she felt when being abused both in the street and online, and that she felt the High Court judge, Mrs Justice Steyn, did not understand the libel case

In April Iain accused Rebekah of being ‘a bully, a liar and a manipulator after refusing to take part in an interview about ‘how she is so brave for promoting mental health.’

‘Just had an interview request to talk about how Rebekah Vardy is so brave for promoting mental health…she contributed to me being f**king miserable and isolated in the jungle…so, that’s a pass from me,’ Iain tweeted.

He later shared his response to the outlet who requested the interview, which read: ‘I feel I have to explain my refusal.’

‘I don’t know if you saw any of I’m A Celebrity when I was in there. Vardy was a bully, a liar and a manipulator. She was part of a team that targeted me and made much of my time in there miserable.’

‘Her first comment to me was ‘I think you’re a bit of a t**t’. She encouraged people not to talk to and left me isolated (apart from two camp mates who were not taken in by her).’

‘When she came out of the camp she told lies about me. She bullied my sister who was staying in Australia and told her ‘in my world, men don’t cry’.’

‘Part of me hopes your email is a ruse to get an interview from me which I think is about her bravery and they you skewer to make it about her bullying and belittleing.

‘I hope the latter is correct because if you are trying to show her as a mental health ambassador, I’m afraid you couldn’t be further from the truth.’

During the 2017 series of I’m A Celebrity, Vardy vehemently denied bullying claims and sobbed as she insisted she hadn’t targeted the broadcaster as part of a gang.

The WAG declared that she wasn’t a ‘ringleader’ – but was slammed by fans who caught her sharing a covert handshake with Amir Khan and Dennis Wise after Iain was voted out.

During footage for the Coming Out show Rebekah emerged after the third vote off and the topic of Iain Lee was the first on the agenda. Her father Carlos told her after her exit: ‘You’re right about lain, I know what you mean.’

Rebekah replied: ‘He can cut the mood in camp in seconds. It’s a shame that he feels he has to be like that, but who knows what he’s going through, it’s hard to speculate.

When a phone call to her management team revealed she’d been accused of ganging up against him, she was brought to tears in the arms of her father.

Surprised, she said: ‘You know what, I was the one that was being the most supportive of him. A bully? I’ve never been a bully in my whole entire life.’

Days after the show ended Iain denied he was ‘bullied’ but said he was ‘ostracised and intimidated’ by his co-stars.

The comedian, who openly struggled with his mental health issues during the show, also blamed ‘hunger’ and ‘heightened emotions’ for the rising tensions in camp.

Speaking on his talkRADIO show in 2019 about his famously strained relationship with Jamie Vardy’s wife, the broadcaster admitted he found the WAG to be ‘unpleasant’.

‘I didn’t get on with Rebekah [in the jungle]. I found her very dark… I got a very dark energy from her,’ he explained. ‘The first thing she said to me was “I thought you were an f**king t**t.”’

He continued: ‘I found her thoroughly unpleasant. It’s no secret her and Jamie Lomas were my least favourite.’

He also claimed Rebekah was mean to his sister and ‘summoned her’ to her room after she was booted out of the jungle.

Rebekah recently faced off against her fellow WAG, Coleen Rooney in a court case with the verdict from Mrs Justice Steyn, who has presided over the proceedings, expected at a later date.

The two WAGs have been fighting it out in the High Court after Rebekah claimed Coleen had libeled her when claiming she was leaking personal stories about her to the press, an accusation made in a bombshell social media post by Mrs Rooney on 19 October 2019.
