A question posted by a confused homeowner has sparked a hilarious debate over who is responsible for replacing garbage bins.

The Australian took to online forum Reddit on Tuesday to ask for advice after his bin was swallowed by the garbage truck during its weekly pick-up. 

‘Last week the garbage truck didn’t take my red bin so today I watched it as it came by and it emptied my bin,’ they said.

The question prompted a deluge of responses, with people in disagreement about who was responsible and how to fix the problem.
