Reddit users share the things that Europeans ‘are better at than Americans’

What are Europeans better at than Americans?

Baking bread, making coffee at the right temperature, wearing fashionable clothes and nightclubbing.

That’s according to commenters taking part in an online debate that pitted Europe against the United States.

Just dough it: What are Europeans better at than Americans? Baking, according to one American internet user

The discussion, on the US-based internet forum Reddit, began when one user posed the question: ‘What are Europeans better at than Americans?’

One of the first topics to be brought up was the difference between food and drink in Europe and the US.

Contributor ‘AskMrScience’ said: ‘The baguettes from any random corner shop and the croissants even from the sh***y train station kiosk were so much better than anything I can buy in America, even at the most upscale bakeries!’

‘IncenseAndIron’ agreed, adding: ‘I have never met a Yank who can bake better than a European. You guys are seriously awesome at it.’

Another, ‘eternalrefuge86’, pointed to the difference in cheese, saying: ‘Gruyere, Parmesan, feta, you name it.

‘We in the US, on the other hand, have a yellow, non-descript cheese product called “American” bearing our name.’

For Reddit user 'eternalrefuge86', Europe has superior cheese including the likes of Gruyere, Parmesan and feta

Chocolate was also brought up with ‘Queen_Red’ saying the sweet treat is much better in Europe.

She wrote: ‘I can’t go back to eating Hershey’s after spending time in Scotland this year. Next time I visit I will be stocking up on candy.’

Meanwhile, ‘unnaturalsugar’ wrote that Europeans are better at ‘portion control’.

And ‘Lo-def’ turned on American coffee saying: ‘Seriously, everyone in the US makes their coffee way too hot. You can’t drink it right away. Even milk drinks like cappuccinos here will burn your tongue.’

For ‘ColdPuffin’, shopping is a much easier experience in Europe than it is in America.

He wrote: ‘In European stores, the price you see on the sticker is the price you pay at the cash [register]. In America, you have to add tax to the price on the sticker.

‘Shopping is so much easier in Europe, especially if you’re on a budget.’

While ‘krakonHUN’ added how they thought the nightlife in Europe was far superior to that on offer in the US.

They added: ‘Have you seen what the capitals in European countries are like at clubs during weekends compared to the US?’

And ‘AthleticSloth1’ agreed, saying: ‘Not even just the capitals. Any mid-large city in Europe tends to have a crazy nightlife.’

For ‘IanCusick’ Europeans are better at ‘winning world championships in sports tournaments that actually incorporate the entire world’.

Europeans trump Americans in the fashion stakes, too, according to ‘ctn0726’.

He explained: ‘I’m American but spend a lot of time in Europe. They dress better.

‘Their styles are different but they find clothes that fit and fit well. Nothing is too tight or baggy. Their outfits are just better put together.’

And ‘thespaghetticode’ added that Europeans are ‘not embarrassed by being dorks’.

They wrote: ‘I don’t mean this in a bad way. Americans are very focused on coolness, and Europeans are not as focused on coolness, and more into being dorky and having fun. I can’t describe it better than that.’

While for ‘dRodisGod’ ‘being quiet’ is something Europeans are much better at.

He added: ‘Everyone in America seems to shout real loud.’
