Relief as two brothers aged six and nine who vanished after being dropped off at school are found safe and well

  • Michael O’Brian, nine, and his brother James, six, dropped off at school today
  • However they did not enter the school building and police have now been called
  • The dog unit was deployed during the search but the pair have since been found

There is widespread relief as two brothers who vanished after being dropped off at primary school in Scotland this morning have been found safe. 

Michael O’Brian, nine, and his brother James, six, were dropped off at school in Carnethie Street, Rosewell, Midlothian, around 8am on Thursday morning.

However they did not enter the school building and police were been called in to search for them.

The police dog unit was also deployed in the search and officers spoke to locals to try and trace the boys’ movements who were both wearing their school jumpers when they went missing. 

At the time, a spokesperson for Police Scotland said: ‘Extensive enquiries are under way to locate the children, including resources from the dog unit. 

‘Officers are also continuing to speak to family and friends for any additional information which could assist them in locating the boys.’  

But the pair have since both been found safe and well.
