The remains of a teenager have been found inside the body of a crocodile which is believed to have ate the boy six days ago.

The victim, named locally as 14-year-old Ricky Ganya, was attacked by the reptile while he was looking for snails near a river in Rumah Dadat, Tanjung Manis, Malaysia.

He was dragged underwater by the reptile after it leapt from the water and clamped it’s jaws around his foot.

Search and rescue teams caught the 4.5-metre-long saltwater crocodile three kilometres from the jetty near the place the boy was reported missing. 

The victim was attacked on July 26, and his family filed a missing person report, but the boy’s aunt said she saw the reptile dragging him into the water.

The crocodile was eventually captured to obtain evidence on July 31 and was cut open in front of the teenagers’s family and the police.

An officer from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operations said some clothing and ‘several parts of a human body’ were found inside the animal.   

Local reports stated said that search and rescue teams used a chicken as bait to catch the crocodile.

The body parts removed from the animal’s stomach have been sent for an autopsy.  

The boy’s remains were taken home by the family for him to be given a funeral in their village.
