Remarkable story behind GoPro that was missing at sea for SIX YEARS before it was miraculously reunited with its owner

A kind stranger has reunited a couple with their GoPro after it was lost on a beach for six years.
Justin Humphries, 18, was scanning rock pools at Ocean Grove Beach near Geelong in Victoria last Monday when he come across a old GoPro with a broken lens.
Despite the camera having a strong odour, likely from algae growth, he decided to keep it before making it his mission to find its owner.

Mr Humphries took the lost camera home and upon inspection discovered that it belonged to a couple that has filmed themselves surfing with it back in 2013.
He posted snap shots of the couple and their camera on several groups on Facebook and Reddit who rallied behind his cause and began sending him links to people they thought might be the owners.
One of the posts with almost 20,000 likes and 600 comments went viral and attracted the attention of local media groups.
With the assistance of another stranger online, he was finally sent the right link.

‘A few people messaged me Facebook links in Reddit DM’s (Reddit user) found the lady herself but when I messaged her she never opened it until her partner saw the article and told her,’ Mr Humphries said online.
‘Well today we found them,’ he said.
He met up with now revealed couple, Jay and Marie, on Saturday and handed them back the camera they hadn’t held for six years.
‘I was pretty excited, I was waiting to take lunch break so I could message her,’ Mr Humphries said to Yahoo.

‘They were pretty happy because they really wanted to see the footage on there.’
The couple told him they had accidentally lost it years ago when they took it off their surfboard.
‘They lost it in 2013 and just had gone back to go and look for it every now and then,’ Mr Humphries said.
Mr Humphries frequently posts lost items and interesting items he finds online to his Instagram and said his services are always free of charge.
Two months ago he posted an gold ring he discovered along the beach and was once again able to return it to its owner.
